The chance to travel deep into the hinterlands of another African country came unexpectedly. I had no idea what was in store in rural Uganda. But knowing I would be seeing the world famous Murchison Falls was a happy tease. Having arrived in Kampala four days earlier I knew I had been prepared enough for the adventure. Journey Plan: depart the capital early Friday morning to avoid the city traffic and arrive in time for first meeting. Driving time: 5 hours. Destination: Hoima, North Western Uganda.

Selling Ghana- The Role of The Film Industry |
One of the testimonies that stuck in my mind during Ghana’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 2007 was about the film industry. It was by an elderly builder (couldn’t quite catch the name) who was interviewed on Citi FM. He said whilst they were working on a structure at the Ghana Film Industry Company one day, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah came around.

If there is one item which lost its essence ages ago but still remains valuable in other ways it is the cowry. Cowries may no longer be used as cash but in Ghanaian society they are cashing in on modern usage. I guess for many people, spending the much scarce cedi has its own problem without having to go worrying about its predecessor. But what is curious is that our current currency has interesting relations with the cowry. Indeed, the word ‘cedi’ is actually Akan for cowry (sedie).

There is something at Wli Waterfall that connects with the soul. Something surreal and yet so real. Something soothing that snaps a bouquet of emotions. It makes you thirst to see the water again. It makes you hunger for nature’s food for thought. This craving led me to the Waterfall, again. This time I was alert to unravel the mystery of Wli. I went with a critical observational stance. That ‘oh, it’s just another waterfall attitude.’ But at the end I bowed, as I was bowled over by the spectacle.

A Place Called Cape Three Points |
Cape Three Points. Ever wondered why a place would have such a name? Strange, yes, but the truth is that it is not only the name which is unusual. The place itself is. located in the Western Region of Ghana, Cape Three Points is the southernmost tip of WestAfrica. In other words, it is the farthest one can go on land towards the Gulf of Guinea. But there is more. The place is also known as the "land nearest nowhere." This is because Cape Three Points is the land closest to a location in the sea which is at 0 latitude, 0 longitude and 0 altitude (It’s a day for Geography, huh?).
